Dear Parents and Community Members: We are launching our Maker Space as a place in the building for students to explore their interests and are looking to locate adults within our community who might be willing to share their professional expertise, talents, and experiences with the students in our school. The interests of our students are often so unique that it becomes necessary to look beyond the boundaries of the traditional classroom in order to locate appropriate resources and role models. Depending on student needs, this sharing and exploration might involve service as a classroom speaker or as a mentor for an individual child or small group involved in a long-term project. The survey that follows is our attempt to locate those community members who are willing to share their talents with our students. It will provide us with helpful information regarding your areas of expertise and interest in volunteering your services. If the idea intrigues you, please complete the survey and return it to either Eric Larson, principal, or Adina Johnson, LEAP teacher. We will contact you regarding future involvement in the program as soon as we have located students who share your interests. Please accept, in advance, our gratitude for your cooperation. Feel free to visit our website (besmakerspace.rsd17.org) to learn more about this space and to find an electronic version of this survey. Sincerely, The Maker Space Committee Community Resources Survey Please review the list of topics below and place a check next to areas where you may feel you would have something to contribute to a student or group of students. In preparation for the opening, we are collecting what we see as beginning resources. If you have any of these things around your home and would like to donate them to our space, please send them in with a note. Mrs. Johnson, our LEAP teacher, will coordinate the materials.
